Gironde Department

  • Refonte
  • TMA
  • UX - UI

The Gironde department is the largest in France. It comprises 535 communes and 33 cantons. Gironde is known for its varied landscapes, prestigious vineyards, and rich historical culture. The department is actively involved in areas such as childhood, family, local economy, environment, housing, safety, youth and much more.

What issues and problems have been addressed?

The Gironde department wanted to redesign its website with the aim of making it more ergonomic, graphic and more simple to use for users in order to offer a better customer experience.
The challenges in detail:

  • various audiences (general public as well as professionals), with very different expectations.
  • Rubrics, topics, themes, entries... A very, very wide range of content must be made accessible!

In short, the site must meet the varied needs of a wide audience, which means giving users what they're looking for simply and quickly.

The project presented several critical challenges, including structuring and presenting complex information in an intuitive and accessible way.

The tool developed by Parker+Parker

The project therefore had several objectives:

  • UX/UI redesign: designing an attractive, intuitive user interface that facilitates access to information despite the complexity of the content.
  • Adaptability: ensuring that the site meets the varied needs of different users (administrative, associations, individuals).
  • Accessibility and SEO: improving the site's accessibility and optimizing SEO for better online visibility.

Thus, we undertook a thorough job of structuring the site to manage the huge amount of information, developing a clear and logical tree.
Emphasis was placed on the hierarchization of information to ensure that users could easily find what they were looking for.

The design was conceived to make the site visually appealing while being functional and simple to navigate. More specifically, a big effort was put into everything above the waterline in order to reduce the bounce rate.

In parallel, the Parker+Parker agency worked intensively on optimizing the menus and search engine of the Drupal site, in response to the current trend of users preferring to search directly rather than navigate via menus. The search engine was therefore designed to be powerful and accurate, pulling up the most current and relevant topics for users.

In addition, accessibility was a priority, ensuring that the site is usable by all age groups and levels of technical skill. As a result, the responsive design guarantees an optimal user experience on all types of devices (desktop, tablet, mobile).

Finally, in-depth work on indexing and SEO optimization was carried out to improve the site's visibility on search engines. Content strategies have been implemented to ensure that the site remains relevant and up-to-date with user expectations.
